happyfall-CSSHave you been putting off necessary dental treatment because you experience dental anxiety? Does dental anxiety (or phobia) make you perspire even thinking about sitting in a dentist chair?

If so, your healthy smile may be paying the price. At Prime Family Dental Care, we understand. That is why our experienced dentists, Dr. Jordan Karren and Dr. Timothy Yu are pleased to offer sedation dentistry for our patients in Laveen, Arizona, who struggle with anxiety during dental procedures. We offer the following three sedation options for our patients:

1-Nitrous Oxide

The dental community began using nitrous oxide in the 1860’s to calm anxious patients. This colorless gas is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through the nose by breathing normally. You will be able to hear and respond to questions and instructions during your procedure. Simply sit back, relax, and breathe comfortably through your nose while we work on your smile.

2-Oral Sedation

With oral sedation, we simply prescribe you a pill to take an hour before your upcoming visit, and depending on the dosage, it can range from minimal to moderate sedation. This sedation dentistry will make you drowsy and you will still be awake, although some people become groggy enough from the moderate level and can nod off during the procedure. You will, however, be easily awakened with a gentle shake.

3-IV Sedation

With IV sedation, we administer the medication through your veins. This type of sedation works quickly, and allows us to control the level of sedation which makes you stay comfortable and pain-free. While IV sedation allows you to remain conscious, you may feel so relaxed that you fall asleep during your treatment. It is also possible that you my not remember the details of your procedure, even though you are awake.

Whether you are having your annual teeth cleaning or having a tooth extracted, Dr. Karren, Dr. Yu, and our Prime Family Dental Care team in Laveen, Arizona, are committed to helping you have a positive dental experience! To schedule your next visit, please call 602-237-8880, and let our sedation dentistry options help you get the treatment you need in the comfort you deserve.
